I am a microbiologist from Colombia, graduated from the Universidad Industrial de Santander in Bucaramanga, Colombia (2022). I received my MSc degree in Microbiology with a focus on Virology in 2025.
My research experience includes projects related to infectious diseases. During my MSc thesis, I worked on the molecular characterization of Respiratory Syncytial Virus and Rhinovirus, identifying their genotypes and clades through phylogenetic analyses. I also performed in-depth molecular and phylogenetic analyses to infer the evolutionary history of these viruses, revealing patterns of divergence, adaptation, and global and local transmission dynamics.
Currently, I work as a molecular biology contractor for Ecopetrol (Colombia), where I am involved in the sequencing and analysis of environmental samples using metagenomic approaches, particularly soils and environments impacted by hydrocarbons.
My research interests include virology, RNA viruses, respiratory viruses, viral evolution, metagenomics, and the application of molecular and bioinformatic tools to study complex biological systems.
My CV
A comprehensive study analyzing the molecular epidemiology of RSV and RV, identifying predominant genotypes, genetic variability, and evolutionary patterns across pandemic and post-pandemic periods.
A study evaluating physical, chemical, and physicochemical methods to inactivate human saliva samples, assess RNA extraction efficiency, and compare detection accuracy via RT-qPCR.
